A little break

Like in a winter fairytale
--------------------------

«It is almost unreal, how silent it is. All I can hear is the crunching of snow beneath my feet and my breath. The trail leads me through snow-covered firs to abandoned alpine huts, which seem to be just waiting for the next summer. Various animal tracks lead nowhere - maybe I’ll see one of the wild animals from my path? In any case, the panoramic view from the viewing points is breathtaking.»

Nature in the Diemtigtal Nature Park offers a lot of space in which to slow down. During our winter hikes, enjoying the slow pace is crucial. The fresh mountain air completes your escape from busy daily life. By the way, winter hiking is a great activity even when the weather is not at its best. Such a little break is always beneficial.

### Offers for everyone

From a 30 minutes long walk at Grimmialp up to a more demanding three-hour winter hike high above the valley floor, everyone can find a suitable hike from our over 30 km of marked winter hiking trails. Pink or yellow signposts with snowmen show you the way. You’ll just need appropriate shoes for walking on snow, clothes which you can layer and are suitable for different temperatures, and, if you wish, ski or hiking poles as well as food and something to drink. You can reach the starting points easily and quickly by car. Some starting points are even accessible by PostBus.

- Around Grimmialp, a varied route at the back of the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley)This easy circular trail starts at Senggiweid car park in Schwenden/Grimmialp. After a few minutes, you’ll already reach the idillyc Blauseeli mountain lake with its numerous benches. In wintertime, the lake is deeply covered with snow. When there’s only a little bit of snow, then the lake fascinates with its deep blue color. When no wind is blowing, we recommend walking around the lake. You’ll see the mountains mirrored in the blue water and it looks like a painting. The trail leads you slightly upwards to Schwenden. Enjoy the view of the village from the other side, Seehorenweid. After a short ascent, have a look into the romantic chapel close to the former Grand-Hotel Kurhaus Grimmialp, a place that inspired Dr. Albert Schweitzer. The last kilometre leads you back to the starting point along a flat path.
