The Diemtigtaler forest crib lets you experience the Christmas story anew with large wooden figures at the «Katzenloch» fireplace. A sensual experience for young and old. The nativity scene with all the figures will now be set up at the fireplace; there will no longer be any stations along the valley hiking trail (Talwanderweg).

In the hectic pre-Christmas period, the forest cot offers you a place to find peace and quiet and makes you aware of the significance of the Advent season. The walk to the forest cot takes about 15 minutes - for the whole walk from the market place in Oey with a stop at the crib, you should reckon with a good half hour.

The forest crib is at its most beautiful when it gets dark. Our tip, so that you can reach it easily: take a headlamp, torch or lantern with you. The path to the forest crib is not illuminated.

Origin
The Diemtigtaler forest crib is an idea of the board of the Friends of the Diemtigtal Regional Nature Park and was created with the cooperation of the members of the association and the Diemtigtal School, Oey site.

Path condition
Due to the change of warm and cold temperatures, the path along the hiking trail is slippery in some places. Remember to wear good shoes.

Opening of the forest crib
The lighting of the forest crib will be switched on on Saturday, 26. November. All interested people are cordially invited to attend the opening. We will meet at 4 p.m. directly at the woodland crib.

Directions

Car:

Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluh tunnel turn left direction to Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtalstrasse into the valley for 4 km to the village of Oey. 200 m after the level crossing turn right to «Marktplatz». From here you walk along the valley hiking trail for about 15 minutes to the forest crib at the Katzenloch fireplace (trail is not lit and maintained). Alternative short access from Katzenlochbrücke (car park).

Train, bus & co.:

By train to Oey-Diemtigen station (Spiez-Zweisimmen line). From here it is a ten-minute walk to the market square (Marktplatz) and thus the path to the forest crib at the Katzenloch fireplace (hike from the market square to the fireplace approx. 15 min.).
