Tips for big and small professional water explorers
The pond in the water playground is the living quarters of the newt family. Watch them from the edge of the pond as they swim to the surface for air. With their glowing red bellies, the newts are impossible to miss. Did you know that they have a protective layer on them that is destroyed by the touch of human hands? For this reason, and because they are very vulnerable, they do not want to be caught. For protection, our sensitive aquatic animals retreat to the middle of the pond. There you should not disturb them.
Explore the pond from the edge. That way, your sun cream won't get off your skin and into the living quarters of our aquatic animals. Your careful handling of tadpoles, water fleas and day-fly larvae helps to ensure that the newt family and its friends are doing well despite the many small and large water explorers.
The most important rules for water research
- Catch animals with a container filled with water
- Always release captured animals at the place of capture after observing them and do not leave them in the sun
- Do not catch newts
