best season
The hike takes you through the habitat of many alpine animals. With a bit of luck, you will observe them during your ascent. In the game observation hut on Alp Nidegg, the ibex, chamois, golden eagle and black grouse introduce themselves and you learn interesting facts about these survival artists (in German only). Can you discover the ibex and chamois on the rocky slopes opposite with the telescope installed on site?
The trail leads along the Grimmimutz adventure trail to its highest point in Nideggwald (pt. 1409). This is where the actual wildlife observation hike begins and leads you over Alp Nidegg to the wildlife observation station. The descent follows the mountain path over alpine pastures down into the valley and is an ideal conclusion to your circular hike. The trail is marked with white direction markers and a green route field. For the wildlife observation hike as such you need approx. 45 min. (1.5 km).
Other trail variants:
If you wish, you can hike back the same way from the wildlife observation station and return to the starting point via the Grimmimutz adventure trail.
