Discover exciting activities at the Gwunderwasser water playground

Make your next family excursion in the Diemtigtal Nature Park a long-lasting memory

No matter if the Gwunderwasser water playground is your main destination or just a welcome stop along your hike, it is always a refreshing and fun playground and a place for making memories. No wonder this water playground in the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley) is so popular amongst young visitors to the valley.

What to take with you for the perfect water playground experience:

Water is wet. For this reason, we recommend taking a change of clothes. There’s not much more you need: sun protection, a picnic or something to cook on the barbecue, and enough drinks (no drinking water on site). Enjoy your family excursion!

The Gwunderwasser water playground is a welcome place to cool off on hot summer days

The water playground is a great highlight on your hike along the Diemtigtaler Talwanderweg (Diemtigtal’s valley hiking trail) or as your main destination. The numerous water activities make the Gwunderwasser water playground near Tiermatti (Schwenden) particularly attractive.

You can play, paddle and dam water as much as you like. Observe the natural dynamic of water by redirecting streams, creating dams and releasing the water. The variety of activities includes, for example, a waterwheel, a series of wooden channels, and driftwood tables. The water playground animates you to experiment with this precious element that should not be taken for granted.

Discover water with the explorer rucksack

Wasserforscherrucksäcke (water explorer rucksacks) are available for hire in the Diemtigtal Nature Park. These rucksacks allow you to discover even more about water and its fauna at the water playground. Of course, you can also take the magnifying glass cup and the fishing net on a hike along a mountain stream and examine your finds from the water and along the shores under the microscope.

Important to know: the documentation in the rucksack is in German.

Explorer days and water experience box for schools

«Ab in den Bach» (lets go to the stream) and «Kraftvolles Wasser» (powerful water) are the names of the guided explorer days for schools and groups. These exciting programmes, which take place in German, must be booked in advance at the Diemtigtal Nature Park tourist office. For those who wish to explore the valley without an expert, a Wassererlebniskiste (water experience box) is available. Have a look at: > Offers for schools and groups (description in German)

Taking a rest along the way...

…is part of the experience. At the water playground you’ll find a resting zone with wooden lounge chairs where you can take a break. There’s also a barbecue site. So, don’t forget to take enough drinks and some food with you to cook on the barbecue.

Many roads lead to the water playground

The PostBus takes you from the Oey-Diemtigen railway station straight to Tiermatti. From there it’s only a five-minute walk to the water playground.

If you’re travelling by car, park at the Viehschauplatz Anger (place for livestock showing Anger). A pushchair-friendly path leads you from there to the water playground in around thirty minutes. You’ll find a few more parking spaces (fees apply) at the water playground by Tiermatti. We kindly ask you to park only on the especially marked parking spaces and not on the cultivated land.

Donation for our water playground Heinzelmännchen (elves)

Our playground Heinzelmännchen work throughout the summer carrying out maintenance in order to keep the playground attractive and safe. For this reason, we ask you to make a donation. You can put your money into the big frog right next to the fridge in the Forscherhüttli (explorer hut).
